Associations between implicit rationing of nursing care and quality of care and patient safety (FR/DE)
Key messages of the workshop:
1. Evidence indicates a significant association between implicit rationing of nursing care, nurse staffing and skill mix and patient outcomes
2. The quality of the nurse work environment, in particular the “staffing and resources adequacy, interprofessional collaboration and leadership”, plays an important role in achieving the desired patient outcomes, a good quality of care and the retention of nurses
3. Due to a lack of data and/or appropriate measurement methods, it is not possible in Switzerland to accurately calculate the required number of nurses / skill and grade mix, the nurse-to-patient ratio, respectively
